1 minute weekly web wonder – Week 22
Thank goodness it’s Friday, agggghhhh shiver me timbers and walk the plank! To help brighten up your day and to help you with your planning at weekends, I will be posting a weekly web based idea that will take just 1 minute of your time to read about. If you like what you read then why not try it out in your lessons the following week.
PiratePad – http://piratepad.net/front-page/
This is a great free tool where you can instantly without creating an account share and start collaborating with a notepad. Basically you click on the link above, click on the big green pirate frog which takes you to a new pad with a specific url. If you share this url with anyone else anywhere in the world you can start writing on it together and at the same time. You can then save what you produce or export it or just keep the url safe. It is so easy just give it a try!
In the famous words of Gary Barlow ‘Call that an anchor?’ Sorry I meant ‘it only takes a minute…’
Happy Piratepadd-ing
ohhhh arrrrrr

Hi I have used Primary pad in the past and found it a great collaboration tool. This is useful to know to avoid the hassle of setting up a new pad. I was just wondering is it necessary for children to sign a permission form before contributing to such websites or should this be covered in a schools existing ICT policy?
Hi depends on your AUP and policies in school, check it out first – it is good practice to notify parents by a letter at the start of the year to communicate you are using sites like these maybe then also share the link so they can get involved in their childs learning!
